Jammin with my old Gap Band musician friends last weekend was a ton of fun. I look forward to the group moving beyond fun to doing some dates with a live audience to feed off the funk. The band members who have reunited with us are Jimi Macon (guitar), Fred Jenkins (guitar) Terry Scott (guitar, keyboard, vocals), Raymond Calhoun (drums, percussion, vocals), Ronnie Kaufman (drums, percussion), Billy Young (keyboard, vocals), Roman Johnson (keyboard, vocals) Anthony Walker (dance, vocals, effects and drum machine programming) and myself Oliver Scott (keyboard, trombone, vocals). As of right now Charlie and Ronnie Wilson will not be performing with the band but who knows what the future may hold. For now we are just enjoying the reunion and looking forward to sharing that feeling with others. The funk grooves were automatic from the moment we hit. Over the next couple months we will rehearse more to fine tune the show for upcoming dates in April and beyond. Stay tuned for more information on this journey.
